The placement
A twelve-month software engineering placement for someone studying a relevant course or following an equivalent practical learning path. You will contribute to the business applications we build and maintain, supported by a named mentor and code review. The work is scoped to your experience.
What you will do
- Set up a development environment, explore an existing .NET application and learn how the team uses Git and pull requests.
- Take on small fixes and features in internal tools, ERP screens, APIs or reporting, with clear acceptance criteria.
- Write tests, reproduce bugs and check your changes before they are reviewed and released.
- Join online project discussions and demos to understand why a feature matters to its users.
- Keep short notes on what you learned, ask for feedback and gradually take on more complete tasks.
What you will bring
- Programming fundamentals: functions, data structures, control flow and the ability to work through a bug.
- A small project from coursework, self-directed study or personal interest that you can walk us through.
- Some familiarity with web applications, databases or version control, and an interest in learning C# and .NET.
- Curiosity, clear communication and the habit of asking for help when you are stuck.
Useful, but not essential
C#, SQL, HTML / CSS, TypeScript or Git. Previous commercial experience is not required, and neither is knowledge of our entire stack. Explain what you built and what you learned; a polished portfolio is not the point.
How your first months could develop
Start with guided setup, pairing and a small fix. Progress to a bounded feature with tests and a demo, then take on a larger task as your confidence grows. Production changes are reviewed and supported by an experienced engineer.
How we work
The placement lasts 12 months and is 100% remote, including mentoring and client-related work. There is no attendance requirement at our office or client premises. During selection we discuss your course requirements, start date, availability and the time-zone overlap needed for mentoring.
You will see how a business requirement becomes working software and learn from systems that continue evolving after launch. Tell us what you are learning, a project you enjoyed and what you would like to get better at.
