The work
At Worktechlabs we build custom business software and stay involved after it goes live. Our projects include quoting and order management, stock and invoicing, customer portals and insurance claims workflows. You will own a useful part of a system, from understanding the business rule to supporting the release.
What you will do
- Turn conversations with users into clear workflows, data models and acceptance criteria.
- Build and evolve C# / ASP.NET Core services, SQL Server data models and APIs used by Blazor or Angular applications.
- Connect existing systems and plan data migrations with validation, reconciliation and a way to recover if a release goes wrong.
- Modernise .NET Framework or WebForms applications in stages, while their users continue working.
- Review code, write tests around important business rules, investigate production issues and document decisions for the next engineer.
What you will bring
- Experience delivering and maintaining .NET applications in production, with examples of decisions you owned.
- Confidence with relational data, SQL queries, transactions, API design and authentication and authorisation.
- The ability to explain trade-offs, break work into deliverable increments and ask when a requirement is unclear.
- A habit of using Git, code review and automated tests, and keeping teammates informed when working remotely.
Useful, but not essential
Experience with Azure, deployment pipelines, Docker, Blazor or Angular; integrations with business systems; or legacy modernisation. You do not need to have used every part of our stack.
A possible first 90 days
Understand one client's workflow and the existing codebase, deliver a bounded improvement with the team, then take responsibility for a module or integration through release and follow-up. The scope depends on the project you join.
How we work
Full time, 100% remote, including client collaboration. Workshops, demos and reviews happen online; this role does not require attendance at our office or a client's premises. We use written decisions, code reviews and focused calls, and discuss the team's required time-zone overlap during the selection process.
You will work across discovery, delivery and support, with room to influence how the software is built. Tell us about a system you maintained, a difficult trade-off and what changed for its users.
